On Wednesday 18th November 2015, Great Place To Work, a tenant at SOC Davenport House, Canary Wharf held a fantastic Cake Sale.

“It was incredible to see the turn out at 2.30pm on the dot. It was a mad rush to get in those treats!  But we managed to break last year’s record of £125.00 and made over £150.00

This money is being donated to Cancer Research before the end of the year.

Canary Wharf is the second most relaxing place in London says survey

The capital’s city workers have hailed the financial district – which is home to the headquarters of HSBC, Barclays and Credit Suisse – one of the calmest areas

Canary Wharf is sometimes derided as soulless and sterile.

But maybe Londoners’ scathing side glances toward our skyscraper-filled space are over as Canary Wharf has been named the second most relaxing place in the capital by city workers.

The survey, from serviced office space provider Flexioffices , found that of the 282 London city workers 13% chose the area as their number one place to relax in the capital.

The majority of people (62%) who chose the area said it was down to its restaurants and bars, closely followed by its hidden gems.

On a Thursday and Friday this may not be the most relaxing place to be as it is often rammed with the post-work crowd, but once that’s died down it can be a very quiet place to be.

The top spot went to Covent Garden – with 29% – due to its restaurants, bars and shopping options.

In third place was London Bridge/Borough, which 11% of respondents chose – also for restaurants and bars (see the theme here?).

The idea behind the survey was to discover the best places for Londoners to spend their downtime, which will be put into a range of London Area Guides.

A fresh upgrade to 100mb broadband has spurred confidence from clients in the IT sector as well as a collection of top of the line coffee machines in communal kitchens. The coffee machines incorporate an APP that allows clients to pre-order their drinks from their desks. No more waiting for the kettle!

All staff have worked at the centre for five years since its opening, and so have developed professional and friendly relationships with clients. This enables staff to meet clients’ needs wherever possible and even helps them to pre-empt client specific requirements.

Combined with flexibility to expand and a wide range of suite sizes on offer Serviced Office Company has managed to achieve a high retention rate while expanding their property to include all 6 levels of the building.

Finally, a conference centre on the first floor of the building includes a business lounge which clients love to use to meet clients in a professional environment.

We spoke to Tracy Vickers at the centre to find out what makes the job at Imperial Court so special for her.

‘I have been doing this work for over 15 years and it never gets old, I love the fact that every day is different, interacting with clients and also over the years meeting and making friends with so many different people.

But the best bit of all, is feeling the pride when a new client moves in or a current client expands, as this is proof that we are still doing our jobs well.’
